Ingredients
- 1 pound green beans
- 8 cloves garlic
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon Syrian spice mix
- 1/2 teaspoon dried ground coriander
- Salt to taste
Directions
- Trim and wash the green beans and french-cut them (cutting them lengthwise then cut into two-inch pieces).
- Peel the garlic and mince or coarsely mash adding a dash of salt.
- Heat the olive oil then add the garlic and stir for a minute until they start to turn yellow.
- Add the green beans and water and cook for 35-45 minutes on medium heat until they are done.
- Stir occasionally checking the liquid level. Add some water if necessary. Add the spices and salt half way through.
- Can be eaten warm or cold. Scoop it with a piece of flat bread for a healthy main dish with Syrian salad or have it as a side dish.
